Neil Floch, M.D., FACS
Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery (Norwalk Hospital)
Dr. Neil R. Floch graduated from Tufts University in 1988 with Magna cum Laude honors.
He performed research at Boston University School of Medicine Department of Vascular
Surgery and received his degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. He
completed five years of surgical residency at Beth Israel Medical Center in New
York, where he was the chief resident in surgery.
Dr. Floch performed a one-year fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the
Mayo Clinic with the pioneer of laparoscopic heartburn surgery, Dr. Ronald A. Hinder.
He received advanced laparoscopic training in all aspects of abdominal surgery.
He has published over 20 journal articles and two book chapters. He obtained the
title of Associate attending at St. Luke's Hospital, New York and maintains surgical
privileges at the Mayo Clinic.
Dr. Floch was trained in laparoscopic bariatric surgery by Dr. Raul Rosenthal at
The Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida. He has attended multiple laparoscopic training
courses including the Mount Sinai Bariatric Course in N.Y.C. He has been trained
and supervised by Dr. George Fielding, a pioneer in the LAP-BAND® procedure,
and is a choice provider of the Inamed company for placement of the LAP-BAND®
and the Vanguard Band®. Currently, Dr. Neil Floch is a Fellow of the American
College of Surgeons and is a member of The Society of American Gastroendoscopic
Surgeons and The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is certified by the American
Board of Surgeons and licensed in New York, Connecticut and Florida.
Dr. Floch is the Director of Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatric Surgery at
Norwalk Hospital. He personally designed and instituted the first two advanced minimally
invasive operating rooms in Fairfield County. He is an expert lecturer on the laparoscopic
Nissen fundoplication, laparoscopic bariatric surgery, laparoscopic paraesophageal
hernia repair and reoperative Nissen fundoplication.
Craig Floch, M.D., FACS
President, Fairfield County Bariatrics
Dr. Craig L. Floch is the senior partner and founder of Floch Surgical Associates
and Fairfield County Bariatrics. He graduated from the University of New Hampshire
with a degree in psychology. He received his medical degree from The Chicago Medical
School, University of Health Sciences. He completed his five-year surgical training
at Mount Sinai Hospital in Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University Hospital
under the training of Dr. Jeffery Ponsky. He was chief resident of surgery at Case
Western Reserve University Hospital and obtained postdoctoral training in Laparoscopic
Skills and Anti-Reflux Procedures at Yale University in 1997.
Dr. Floch has been trained in Laparoscopic Gastric Banding by the Inamed Company
and performs both the LAP-BAND® and Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass surgeries. He is
currently an attending surgeon at Norwalk Hospital and St. Vincent's Medical Center
and is also a trauma surgeon at Norwalk Hospital.
Dr. Floch has been an instructor in the Yale University/Norwalk Hospital Surgical
P.A. teaching program and received the Malcom S. Beinfield Award for Teaching Excellence
in the Yale/Norwalk Surgical P.A. teaching program for the years 1996, 1998, 2001
and 2003. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a fellow
of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Medical
Association, Fairfield County Medical Society, the Connecticut State Medical Society,
the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
Lynn Holmberg, M.S., R.D., C.D.N.
Registered Dietitian
Lynn Holmberg is a Registered Dietitian specializing in Bariatric Surgeries. She
has extensive experience in both pre- and post-op counseling for those patients
undergoing the Gastric Bypass and LAP-BAND® procedures. In addition to individual
counseling, Lynn provides nutrition support groups for all patients within the bariatric
practice. She is licensed within the state of Connecticut and is an active member
of the American Dietetic Association (ADA) and the Connecticut Dietetic Association
(CDA). Lynn holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from Marymount College and
a Master’s degree from New York University.
