We extend a very special thank you to all of our friends and patients who participated in, and attended, our fashion show evening to remember last night. It is because of all of you that we were able to do this.
The evening would never have occurred, had it not been for our patients, who so graciously gave of their time, and walked the runway for us. They were "the show" and everyone of them was not only a "supermodel", but each and every one of them is a "super person" as well. They truly made us proud and grateful to be a part of their lives, and for having chosen us to be a participant in helping them achieve this success on their weight loss journey.
We hope that we have provided all of you who are on a weight loss journey, or considering joining one, with support and encouragement to continue on your journey. On May 13, 2013, Dr. Neil Floch was a guest speaker at the HOPE event at the meeting of the ASMBS in New Orleans. HOPE is a program started by Dr. Archie Roberts a former NFL quarterback for the Miami Dolphins and cardiothoracic surgeon. Dr. Roberts began the program which ahs focused on diet, exercise and support to help retired football players lose weight and improve their health.
Along with Dr. Roberts, Dr. Buchwald and Dr. Floch, his patient James Thornton, and his friend Cory Luchley spoke at the event about their weight loss experiences
Independently, Dr. Neil Floch, and former NFL players, his patient Mr. James Thornton and friend Corey Luchley began efforts to develop a surgical weight loss plan for retired football players. Their idea was to help the football players, but also promote their endeavors so they may serve as role models for the men of the country. Only 20% of weight loss surgery patients are men. The goal of Dr. Floch, Mr. Thornton, and Mr. Louchley is to make surgery more feasible and available to those who need it. The first center was established at Temple University. Dr. Archie Roberts, a cardiothoracic surgeon began the program. He was a former NFL quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.

GREATER CT WALK FROM OBESITY WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!
Fairfield County Bariatrics wants to thank all of our patients and friends who joined us on Saturday, September 25th in Hubbard Park for our sponsorship of the Greater CT Walk from Obesity. The event was a great success! The weather was unseasonably warm and dry making it an ideal day for a "walk."
The fundraising goal was reached and without the support of all of you who contributed to the event, it would not have been achieved.
We hope all of you had an enjoyable time, just as we did, and look forward to having you join us for next year's event. We welcome your help in preventing obesity among adults and children. With obesity now shown as the leading cause of preventable death in the United States, action is needed.
Please join us next year and together we will all Walk from Obesity.
